Students often have difficulties telling the difference between nouns, verbs and adverbs.  Even after years in school, they still can’t identify the techniques the author is using.

This is where I come in.  I am a language specialist. I’ve spent years teaching the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the English language.  This means that whether your child is  having trouble analysing the writer’s language, or is battling to write accurately, I can solve their language problem.

This is one of the key obstacles to success in English GCSEs.

It’s something which is often overlooked in skills-based English lessons. Yet a limited vocabulary prevents students from accessing key texts and so performing well in their exams. It also hinders your child from communicating effectively.

My background in English language publishing  has taught me how to develop my students’ vocabulary and hone their comprehension skills. I know how to help your child understand sentence structure and patterns of vocabulary.

I have also had years of experience in teaching students to use language precisely and creatively to achieve their aim. Excellent communication is a key competency required in the majority of highly paid professions.

I have made a career out of the English language and hope to enable your child to use it to realize their own potential.

Rest-assured, I have taught both English language and literature equally  to students in Years 7-11 for years.

It’s my view that once your child has mastered the skills involved in the English language GCSE, they will find the literature exam far less challenging. 

You see, both language and literature exams share the same skills: language and structural analysis, synthesis of information, comparison of texts and critical evaluation. This means the skills developed in the language paper and fully transferable to the literature paper.

Once your child’s language skills are solid, they will be able to take on all the additional information involved in studying set texts.
