Yes – this is called a DBS check (formerly known as a CRB check). I have mine through my teaching job, which is annually renewed.

I can provide you with my DBS number if you would like to verify it.

Absolutely! I have a digital folder of all my qualifications available for inspection.

Online tutoring is safe, efficient and secure. All of your lessons will be conducted and recorded on Zoom so that parents can review them.

As long as you have a good internet connection and a functioning computer, there’s no reason not to learn. Bad weather, traffic jams, car problems: nothing will prevent the lesson from going ahead, as long as tutor and tutee are willing and available.

Please read my Here’s my story page to find out more about my experience and credentials.

I’ve spent years in education, developing my knowledge and teaching skills. You will also benefit from my writing and editing skills: I have a proven ability to design bespoke learning resources that really work. Unlike many secondary school teachers, I specialise in English language as well as literature. This enables me to help you with your language analysis and with the technical accuracy of your written work.

I offer a ‘pay in installments’ plan, or your child can choose to do the self-study element of the course only. There’s lots of free materials and advice on my website if you’re not ready to commit to the course at this time.

During the course of a lesson, we can:

  • Share and co-edit documents online
  • Use a graphics tablet
  • Work through literacy exercises

I offer this 30 minute session to help your child to map out their path to GCSE success. As part of this conversation, I ask questions to find out more about:

  • Your child’s current grades
  • Specific feedback they’ve had from teachers and exams
  • Aspects of English they find hard

It’s useful if you have marked examples of your child’s written English to hand if possible during the call.

I’ll make suggestions of resources and activities your child can do to improve their predicted grades. If you’d like to learn more about my small group courses during the call, I’ll be happy to give you some information.
